Cards of Hope

One child. One card. One human connection.

This Christmas, Ember & Blossom CIC is starting something very simple.

We’re asking children to create handmade Christmas cards filled with colour, kindness and hope and we’re going to make sure those cards reach people who would love to receive one.

The idea began while planning our annual community Christmas Day Dinner.

We wanted every guest sitting around our tables to have something waiting for them a card handmade by a child, simply reminding them that somebody had thought about them that Christmas.

And then I thought…

Why stop at our Christmas dinner?

There will be people in communities everywhere who may be spending Christmas alone. People who have lost somebody they love. People who are isolated. People going through a difficult year.

And sometimes you don’t need somebody to fix anything.

Sometimes it’s just nice to know somebody thought about you.

That’s what Cards of Hope is about.

Would you like to receive a Card of Hope?

You don’t have to prove that you’re lonely.

You don’t have to explain what’s happened.

You don’t have to tell us your story.

If receiving a handmade Christmas card would brighten your Christmas, we’d love to send you one.

You can also nominate somebody you care about to receive one.

Request or Nominate for a Card of Hope

Made by children. Sent with kindness.

We’re inviting schools and children’s groups to create Cards of Hope this Christmas.

The children won’t receive the names, addresses or personal circumstances of the people receiving their cards.

They simply get to do something incredibly important:

Create something for another human being, simply because they care.

Ember & Blossom will collect the cards, match them with recipients and arrange for them to reach their destination.

Could your school take part?

We would love schools to join Cards of Hope 2026.

Children can create cards as part of a class activity, Christmas craft session or wider conversation around kindness, loneliness, community and looking out for one another.

We can provide suggested messages for inside the cards, and I would also be very happy to visit participating schools to speak to children in an assembly or classroom about Ember & Blossom, the Christmas Day Dinner and why small acts of kindness can have such a big impact.

Where could this go?

This year, Cards of Hope begins here.

But our dream is much bigger.

We would love to see children, schools and communities across the country and eventually around the world creating Cards of Hope for people who need a little connection at Christmas.

Thousands of children.

Thousands of cards.

Thousands of people reminded that they haven’t been forgotten.

It starts with one.

One child. One card. One human connection.

Cards of Hope is an Ember & Blossom Community Interest Company project.

Together is a beautiful place to be.
